Appropriations for the army, police and justice will be up by nearly 5 billion euros in 2024, forecasts the state budget presented Wednesday, including more than 3 billion for Defense. That for National Education, first in the State, is up 3.9 billion euros (+ 6.5%).
This budget aims to respond to the "three challenges" that are the debt reduction of the France, the fight against inflation and the investments required for the ecological transition, said Wednesday the Minister of Finance, Bruno Le Maire. "We need to ... steer our public finances by meeting these three challenges," Bruno Le Maire told the press before the presentation of the next budget to the Council of Ministers, evoking "an inflationary context that blurs all benchmarks".
In detail, the ecological transition gains as expected an additional 7 billion euros. The budget of Justice 500 million, and that of the Interior one billion. The budget for school education will also increase by €3.9 billion, notably to implement the general increase in teachers' salaries. It reaches 63.6 billion euros, a "historic" budget, commented Education Minister Gabriel Attal.
