"To issue money is to go out of the woodwork." That was one of the expressions chosen by Javier Milei to give more signs of where he will move forward from December 10 when he takes over the government. Having just returned from a trip and in a raid on different radios, the libertarian also assured that the future Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, will have the mission of "defusing the bomb that the government is leaving."
In that sense, he warned that this will be fundamental to avoid "the worst crisis in Argentine history."
Let's dismantle the problem of Leliqs, which is a furious multiplier of inflation. And on the other hand, a fiscal program in which we bet on a zero financial result. That means that we don't take on more debt, you become solvent and the interest rate falls," said the leader of La Libertad Avanza.
"The more successful we are in managing to put the fiscal numbers in cash and solve the monetary problem, the faster the fall in the interest rate will be and the less painful the adjustment process will be," he added.
When asked if he is aware that governors and political leaders are "asking the government for money," Milei replied: "And how do I give them something that I don't have," he said. And he asked, "Or are we going to continue to counterfeit money to defraud the most vulnerable?"
In that sense, he continued: "Let's suppose that his wife tells him that the money is not enough, is going to the pipe a solution? Well, to issue money is to go off the drain."
In an interview with Esta Mañana, the program hosted by Marcelo Longobardi on Radio Rivadavia, the economist spoke of Caputo as the Minister of Economy (he had already confirmed this minutes earlier).
Among the strings of phrases he left, the president-elect said: "We are going to have to go through a hard time because of the disasters of this administration."
"If we don't reorganize the public accounts and put the Central Bank's balance sheet in cash, we're going to have hyperinflation that Alfonsin's is going to be a mess," he said.
"The strategy of gradualism did not work with (Mauricio) Macri," he said, to which he reiterated that "hyper is just around the corner." "The most interesting thing is that we were very clear. It must be the first time in history that a person is voted for who says he is going to adjust," he stressed.
For the leader of Libertad Avanza, the main objectives of his administration will be: "Eradicate inflation, return to growth and end insecurity."
"I take this as a job, with responsibilities a little bigger than the conventional ones, but it's a job. I'm going to do everything in my power to do it in the best way possible," Milei said.
When it came to defining himself, he said: I'm "someone very pragmatic." "I'm a result-oriented person. I'm not for the lyrical, I'm for the result, like bilardism," he said.
Finally, when asked what the official policy will be regarding the pickets, the future president said: "Everything is within the law. If the leaders don't respect the law, they will have to go to jail."
