Hydrogen is emerging as one of the main solutions for decarbonising certain industrial processes and transport. As long as you can have this gas easily and affordably. The equation quickly turns into a puzzle because of its physical peculiarities. Vallourec is providing part of the answer with an innovative storage solution, presented on Monday at its plant in Aulnoye-Aymeries (Nord). "We are here to create the conditions for the success of the hydrogen sector," says Philippe Guillemot. Vallourec's CEO is "anxious to avoid the same thing happening as in the solar panel industry, with a transfer of added value to China."
The group is the specialist in seamless tubes, which are connected to each other by a perfectly sealed screwdriving system. This mastery led him to develop a large-scale vertical storage solution called "Delphy". Hydrogen is stored in gaseous form in storage facilities.
