The profile of the CAC 40 is expected to change in the coming days. As it does every quarter, the Scientific Council of Euronext's indices (CAC 40, SBF 120, CAC Next 20, etc.) will examine the composition of the Paris stock market's flagship index on Thursday 7 December. This assembly of hand-picked experts decides on the entries and exits within the CAC 40 and other indices. It is independent of the stock exchange operator Euronext.
Two stocks, Worldline and Alstom, whose prices have fallen sharply in recent months, are in the hot seat and are likely to leave the Paris index. Worldline, the French electronic payments giant, is now valued at only €4.37 billion and ranks 66th on the Paris stock market by market capitalization.
