MK Belyak. "Trying to postpone the approval of the 2024 budget to March"/Flash 90, Jonathan Zindel
The Finance Committee hearings that were supposed to take place this morning were canceled and the Knesset members who are members of the committee were notified. On Thursday, the hearing was interrupted shortly after it began.
MK Vladimir Belyak (Yesh Atid), the opposition coordinator on the Finance Committee, said this morning: "Last week, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich stood on the Knesset podium and tried to intimidate the opposition that any delay in approving the amended budget will cause harm to soldiers, evacuees, and small businesses. Zeb, of course, was a blatant lie, but since then the coalition has not stopped canceling and delaying the discussions.
"The reason is another attempt to legalize the NIS 5 billion of coalition funds, and also to postpone until March the approval of the new budget for 2024."
According to Belyak, "The default government that brought the Black Sabbath disaster on us 7.10.23 is dragging the citizens of Israel into a large-scale economic disaster. I again call on all members of the coalition, including the state camp, to do everything possible to stop this bad budget, cancel the coalition funds, close five unnecessary ministries, and divert every shekel in the state coffers to the needs of the front and the home front. Only in this way together will we win."
