Danish MP Mike Fonseca assumes this responsibility.
At 28, he is in a relationship with a 15-year-old girl.
This Thursday, February 8, the politician defended his relationship with the young girl, even as he returned to Parliament after sick leave following the revelation of this affair which caused him to be excluded from his party.
“I can tell you that my girlfriend and I have a good relationship.
It suits us and we love each other,” Mike Fonseca told the press, while admitting to “understanding” that their attachment could be surprising.
The keys to supporting women in their working lives
In Denmark, sexual majority is established at 15 years old and the police announced last week that the investigation for sexual predation against him had been closed.
“People aged 15 to 17 who are sufficiently mature”
This relationship between Mike Fonseca and a teenage girl was revealed to the public in mid-November and the MP was immediately excluded from his center-right party, the Moderates, which are in government.
After a sick leave of almost three months, he returned to sit in the Folketing (the unicameral parliament of Denmark) as an independent.
“The age of criminal responsibility is also set at 15, which means you can be held responsible for your decisions and choices when you are 15,” argued Mike Fonseca in an op-ed published in the newspaper online
“I therefore allow myself to consider people aged 15 to 17 as sufficiently mature to make important choices,” he further pleaded.
“Incompatible with the function of politician”
The identity of the teenager has not been revealed but the deputy claimed to have obtained consent from her parents.
“We have confidence in her and in Mike.
If we had locked her up and forbidden her to do this, she probably would have done it anyway, and the bond of trust would have been completely broken,” they told the tabloid Ekstra
, on condition of anonymity. .
For the president of his former party, Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen, this relationship is “totally incompatible with the role of politician within the moderate party”.
“This is a young girl who is only 15 years old and whose relationship began when she was in fourth grade,” he recalled on TV2 television.
“We cannot have MPs who have regular sex with minors.”
That being said, in light of Judith Godrèche's recent revelations about her relationship with filmmaker Benoît Jacquot, this affair once again raises the question of the control that adults exercise over adolescents.
Especially since, as clinical psychologist Anaïs Vois analyzes in
, “during adolescence, we are in the process of constructing our identity, in a “psychological reshuffle”;
our psyche is fragile.
It is therefore actually “easier” to control a young girl than an older woman.
