Horse racing is a controversial field.

Animal rights organizations have been arguing for years that this is an abuse and cruelty to horses, and their exploitation that leads to physical harm.

Racing enthusiasts have always denied the claim, insisting that all those involved in the racing industry come from a love of horses and dedicate their lives to them.

In recent days, however, photos and videos have been published in England that contradict this claim, in which a trainer and rider are documented sitting on dead horses and smiling for pleasure.

It started with Gordon Elliott, a senior industry coach, who was forced to post an "apology from the bottom of his heart" after a picture was posted of him sitting on the body of a dead horse, smiling at the camera.

Elliott trained two horses that won senior competitions in 2018 and 2019, but his viral image made him a hated man.

His apology also turned into a joke, with a puzzling attempt to explain the swearing that led to the picture.

"Apologies from the bottom of my heart for the offensive picture," he wrote.

The horse organization opened an investigation, after expressing "shock" from the picture, and the trainer was suspended from his post as long as the investigation continues.

He said, "I can state with certainty that every horse that passed under my hands was treated thoroughly and successfully ... The picture in question was taken a long time ago, and happened after one of the horses had a heart attack .. At that sad moment, which is always sad when your horse dies, my initial reaction was to help "The body ... I stood on the horse and waited for it to be evacuated, and for a moment I sat down, without thinking ... I heard a call from the members of my group, and I signaled them with my finger to wait."

But if that wasn’t enough, today another video was released, of a rider named Rob James, who also previously won a prestigious competition at Cheltenham - under the same coach, Gordon Elliott - and also sits on a dead horse, laughing out loud.

Of course this provoked a big storm, with calls to oust the two.

For one of the animal organizations in England, "this is further proof of the cruelty of the industry, which is led and led by cynical and convicted people".
