August 14, 2018 was a day that marked the beginning of the transportation revolution in Israel, when Bird, the American scooter giant, first launched its services in Israel.

Bird's entry caused a great deal of controversy, as the fear was that the scooters would "destroy" the urban landscape, the scooters would be stolen and the service would lead to a greater mess than the benefit it could yield.

The collaborative scooters, on the other hand, brought the transportation revolution and micro-mobility, tiny means of transportation designed to solve the last-mile problem: from the bus stop to the workplace.

Behind Bird Israel's entry is Yaniv Rivlin, who has been the company's CEO for the past three years in Israel.

Rivlin first heard about Byrd while sitting with a friend from the US on Ben Gurion Boulevard. So he fell in love with the idea. "We are sitting on Ben Gurion Boulevard, looking at the scooters and he asks me: 'Do you know the company Byrd?', So I told him no, but that it was It will be amazing in Israel.

There I lit up about the idea.

He connected me to a friend who eventually connected to someone in Byrd.

I convinced them why Israel is an amazing place to establish Bird as a first branch.

I met Patrick, he is the first worker outside the United States, and I was the first worker after him. "

Tell us about the moment you received the eighth message to the CEO of Bird Israel

It was an exciting moment, I was at a wedding.

It was April 19th in 2020, right at night between the 19th and 20th, we were in the desert, no absorption.

At 1 a.m. on April 20.

I take out my smartphone, open it and suddenly see a message from Patrick 'I was talking to Travis, the founder of Byrd and we have okay in Tel Aviv.

I told some people around me.

A very good way to make decisions, is to ask yourself what you want to talk about at dinner on Friday.

I think what you want to talk about.

I felt that at the time, on the scale, Byrd was on a different scale.

I will not forget talking to my mother and she said, 'Are you going to be the CEO of a scooter company?'

But I think she also realized the potential. "

"We fought to keep Bird active even during Corona"

"During the corona my eyes darkened. There was a drop of over 80%. I have a regular ceremony that I open the morning, see the statistics and see the drops, and could clearly see if Bibi spoke the night before, if anything closed. Anything like that I see in the data and see The immediate change. It came as a surprise as it came to everyone. We did not know how to eat it in the beginning. There were doubts here what to do, how to behave and for us it was very important to keep the scooters running. We fought for it and managed to keep them because we are part of the urban fabric. We also fought in society to keep it. No one knew what was going to happen, there was chaos. We said no matter how many trips there were, and we knew and it was clear we would lose money, but we believed we were part of the urban fabric and we should be here in fire and water. Thank us we kept running "The service and it gave people to get from first place to second place. We made free trips for emergency crews and people could use us to get to the places they needed."

"We create the field of micro-mobility"

Think about it: three years in terms of time is nothing and you will see how many changes there have been.

Scooters are getting better, we are creating this field.

In my approach, I want to always be in places that do good to the world and especially to Israel and move them forward and in the field that really makes the change.

I did not dream of being the CEO of a scooter company and I do not know what the next step will be, but I want to be at all times to be where I feel and see the change that is happening and my goal is that we have so many challenges, both in Israel and in the world, and I want to be part of the change "It's very much connected to multidisciplinary, I believe a good CEO, a good leader - he needs to have experience in all areas and broad areas, in order to know how to lead change," Rivlin concluded.
