Hama-sana
The Salhab Forestry Nursery of the General Authority for the Management and Development of the Forests, during its plan for the current season, produced about 300 thousand seedlings of various forest types.
The Director of Natural Resources at the Authority, Engineer Fayez Muhammad, explained to the SANA Economic Bulletin that the produced plantings will be used to rehabilitate the sites affected by the fires that broke out during the last summer and include laurel, fruiting pine, carob, sap, sumac, cypress, eucalyptus, bitter almonds, oaks and oaks, in addition to the plantings of the Shami rose and rosemary. He pointed out that last year witnessed the occurrence of 46 fires in forest lands, which took place on an area of 29,500 dunums, indicating that forestry plants will have an important role in restoring the vegetation cover of the burned areas and improving the environmental reality.
The Salhab El-Harraji nursery produced about 500,000 seedlings last season.
