Celebrating a New Year once every 96 hours:

Astronomers have identified a planet 600 light-years away, orbiting the Sun every 4 days.

For comparison, a hot star - the planet closest to the sun in our solar system - completes full coffee every 88 days.

The information about the discovery was published this month in the scientific journal Astrophysical Journal Letters.

This is a particularly hot Jupiter-like star called WASP-62b, and unlike the other hot Jupiter stars discovered to date it is the first to be detected without clouds in its atmosphere, so it will be possible to explore it more in depth

.

Detection of stars of this type cannot be done directly because they are small relative to their sun and their light is absorbed during rotation.

However as soon as there is a transition of the star between the sun and our observation, there is a slight disturbance in the distant light and thus the star can be detected.

"Watching a star like this directly is like trying to discover a firefly near a streetlight," says researcher Monza Elam, of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics.

"The information was gathered by a comprehensive study that incorporates the light of the sun around which the star revolves as well as the illumination created during the planet's transitions. This way it is also possible to understand what kind of atmosphere there is on the planet being examined by the light caused by the transition."

According to Elam, "In general, hot Jupiter stars, which pass very close to their Sun, much closer to the distance of the Earth Venus and Mars, are very difficult to find in the Milky Way galaxy. They are very rare. What is even rarer is the invention of such a planet with a clean atmosphere. "Gases. That fact makes this huge planet really weird and interesting."

Following the discovery of WASP-62b, a team of researchers activated the Hubble Space Telescope to characterize the substances in the planet's atmosphere.

The telescope was able to detect sodium was in huge quantities.

In addition, observations through the Hubble Space Telescope confirmed the findings that the star's atmosphere is completely clear of clouds. "

A similar discovery occurred in 2018, when astronomers identified a first Saturn-like star with a clean atmosphere named WASP-96b.

Both of these stars have enormous sodium content and they allow for wider in-depth research on stars of their type.
