An officer of the Local Police of Malvinas Argentinas killed one of two criminals with a bullet in the abdomen who, with a toy gun, tried to steal the motorcycle on which he was circulating in civilian clothes in the Buenos Aires town of Grand Bourg.
According to police sources, the incident occurred on Tuesday shortly before noon on
Ventura Coll and Martín Coronado streets
, when the cash was traveling on his Honda 125 motorcycle and was surprised by two men who from another motorcycle tried to steal his.
The spokesmen explained that at that moment the policeman identified himself as such and fired at the assailants, one of whom was shot in the abdomen and had to be hospitalized.
Hours later, as a result of the injury, he lost his life at the Federico Abete Municipal Hospital for Trauma and Emergencies.
The deceased, identified as
Lucas Emanuel Giménez (23 years old)
, had in his possession a toy weapon, a black plastic replica of a 9-millimeter pistol, while his accomplice escaped.
The prosecutor Carlos Ezequiel Hermelo, of the Functional Unit No. 18 of Malvinas Argentinas, tries to establish the circumstances of the event and determine if the fugitive did carry a real weapon.
At the moment, he did not take any action with the policeman, since everything indicates that he acted in legitimate defense.
The investigators seized the policeman's regulation weapon at the scene to be subjected to expert reports.
The case was labeled "attempted robbery and homicide."
