A director of Public TV withdrew $ 4 million in cash in a purse from the account that the channel has at Banco Itaú, this Monday, to pay production expenses for a fiction about Manuel Belgrano.

But all the alarms went off, since

payment in cash

in public media

is prohibited

When the irregularity committed by the director of Public TV - whose name or position did not come out - was detected, the channel authorities ordered the return of the money and the performance of an audit to establish responsibilities, according to the information to which

Clarín was

able to access

.

And many are wondering on the channel

what the director of Public TV was going to do with that money at home.

Given the scandal that was generated on Public TV, when this irregularity became known, the authorities sent an internal statement to their staff.

"By express indication of the President of RTA, Lic. Rosario Lufrano, you are informed that

based on certain irregularities that have been detected

in relation to some administrative procedures, the necessary instructions were given to carry out an internal audit in order to to determine the corresponding responsibilities ".

Official sources highlighted that "an extraction of money was detected that did not correspond, since all operations are made by bank transfer,

cash is never handled."

That is why Lufrano "barely detected the irregularity, ordered the return of the money and the audit, since this methodology was not authorized to withdraw money from Public TV," the official sources said.

However, other sources from the channel, who are critical of Lufrano's management, pointed out that

there were numerous meetings throughout Monday on Public TV

and that the authorities' reaction would have been after the scandal broke out on the channel, when the rumor of the illegal extraction of that millionaire sum spread among the workers of the state radio station.

The money was to be used to pay

part of the production expenses of the series

Los amores prohibidos de Belgrano,

which Public TV plans to make as its own fiction.

The series is based on the book by Florencia Canale and will be directed by Alberto Lecchi (director of En Terapia and Mujeres Asesinas, among others), with the leading role of actor Nicolás Cabré.

The original idea of Public TV was to make the miniseries last year, when it was 250 years since the birth and 200 years of the death of Belgrano.

But the project was postponed due to the strict restrictions imposed in the face of the coronavirus pandemic.

Now there was the project to start filming next week, but the irregularities detected with the extraction of the money could delay the start of filming again.

This is not the first time that problems have arisen with fictions in the state-owned company Radio y Televisión Argentina (RTA), on which Public TV depends.

His previous scandal was in 2013, when he financed the 120 chapters of

the telenovela

Esa Mujer

, produced by A + A Group, the producer of Andrea del Boca,

the actress very close to Cristina Kirchner.

At that time, the RTA board had the presence of two opposition directors, who voted against this millionaire contract;

while now there is no opposition presence on the RTA board, since the Government avoids control over the public media and still blocks the opposition from entering the official organizations of the communications sector.
