(ANSA) - ROME, 02 MAR - The demand for the cargo sector in air transport returns to pre-covid levels. In January, global demand increased by 1.1% compared to January 2019 and 3% compared to December 2020. This was announced by IATA, explaining that all regions recorded a monthly improvement in the demand for goods transported by air. North America and Africa saw the best performances. The IAT specifies that since the comparison between the monthly results of 2021 and 2020 "is distorted by the extraordinary impact" of the Covid, all comparisons refer to January 2019. The demand for passengers instead in January 2021 recorded a drop of 72% compared to the same month of 2019 , worse than the decline of 69.7% marked in December 2020 over December 2019. (ANSA).
