The EC Peiting has to take another compulsory break in the Oberliga Süd, which is due to Corona.

Rapid tests had worked, one case has now been confirmed by a PCR test.

Peiting - Players, coaches, supervisors and fans of the EC Peiting would have gladly done without this hat trick: For the third time in the current league season, the team is on a forced break due to Corona.

On Friday the away game at HC Landsberg had to be canceled at short notice.

After a corona suspicion in the team was subsequently confirmed in one case, the home game against the "Eisbären Regensburg" planned for Sunday and the appearance against the "Starbulls Rosenheim" scheduled for next Tuesday had to be canceled.

Peiting had to sit out for a long time in mid-November and early January due to Corona.

Abnormalities during daily checks

According to ECP team manager Gordon Borberg, before the Landsberg game, "during the daily symptom control of our players, two players found abnormalities".

The entire team and the support staff were then subjected to rapid tests.

A total of five positive results were obtained.

"One case was confirmed by means of PCR testing," reports Borberg.

"The evaluation of the remaining PCR tests is still pending." At the moment, the top division club's training and, of course, game operations are suspended.

According to the team manager, the players are in quarantine.

"How to proceed, the authorities then decide on the basis of the remaining test results," said Borberg on Sunday.

For him one thing is certain: "Health and prevention always come first, of course."

Deggendorfer SC also has to sit out at the moment

The EC Peiting is not the only club in the Oberliga Süd that is currently suspended due to Corona.

A suspected corona case occurred at Deggendorfer SC.

The games on Friday (against Regensburg) and on Sunday (against Rosenheim) were canceled as a precaution.

The quick tests on Friday were all negative, and a PCR test was also carried out on two players.

"The results are still pending," said the DSC.

On Monday, all those involved undergo another quick test.

If they all turn out negative, "coach Chris Heid's team will resume training on Monday".

It is unclear when the ECP can start again.

In any case, it will be taken into account in the final table.

With 29 games so far, the team has already achieved the required quota of 75 percent played games (based on the maximum of 36 league games).

The ECP is currently seventh in the table, according to the current status it would first have to play in the pre-play-offs (19 and 21 March).

Before the play-offs, the following applies: If a team is subject to a quarantine obligation before the start of a play-off series of any round (up to a maximum of 30 hours before the opening bully) and does not provide evidence of a minimum number of players by the specified period, the team will withdraw early out of the play-offs.
