Despite the corona pandemic, the demand for skilled workers in the automotive industry remains high.

But where are there still vacancies?

Find out more here.

Employees, preferably interns, are currently being sought in research and development as well as in production.

Most jobs are advertised at BMW

(1,000), while Mercedes-Benz and VW are looking for around 500 and 300 new employees, respectively *.

This is the result of an analysis by the largest student marketer in DACH, charly media (charly.media).

The company supports corporations in their search for young talent and uses the early branding method to bring them together during their studies and before their first job.

Car companies: Every fifth position in research and development is vacant

With regard to the business areas in which the greatest number of employees are sought, it can be seen that automotive companies are particularly focusing on future innovations: 21 percent of the job vacancies relate to the field of research and development.

Almost 17 percent are in production, whereas every tenth position is advertised in the logistics area.

In digitization and in electromobility, the demand for employees is rather low: a good three or two percent of all job offers are looking for skilled workers for the two corporate divisions.

While Audi (32 percent), Mercedes-Benz (32 percent) and VW (22 percent)

are looking for workers

in research and development

, BMW is looking for personnel support in production (19 percent).

At 21 percent, IT people are particularly in demand at VW, while at BMW job seekers in quality assurance and quality management have a good chance of finding a job with 11 percent open job advertisements.

Differences can be seen when looking at

job advertisements in e-mobility

: While four percent of job offers at BMW relate to the e-industry, at VW it is just under 0.4 percent, which is a tenth compared to the Bavarian group.

Over half of all vacancies relate to internships

Interns are particularly popular with automotive companies: 59 percent of job advertisements are aimed at potential interns.

This is followed by the need for permanent workers and trainees with 15 and 12 percent respectively.

Students, on the other hand, can not only gain work experience at the automotive companies, but also contribute to internal research and development:

four percent of job advertisements relate to theses in a Bachelor's or Master's degree

.

A place for a dual course of study or for a doctorate is advertised in a good three percent of the positions examined.

“The battle for the best talent has always been going on among car manufacturers.

Competitive advantages are secured by those who create positive contact points with young talents in their studies at an early stage.

This is not only shown in our daily work according to the early branding method, but also proven by various studies:

In the fight for the best talent and specialists, companies have to get in touch with their target group

before they even think about their future job.

Data-based marketing is a valuable tool here.

Those who are already targeting first-year students and the graduates of tomorrow have the better cards when it comes to recruiting later, ”says Cecil von Croÿ, CEO and co-founder of charly media.
