Will the third time be the right one?

On February 1, PSA will return to India after two failed attempts in 1997 and 2012. The automotive group, renamed Stellantis since its merger with Fiat Chrysler, has chosen Citroën to relaunch itself in the subcontinent.

The chevron brand will first launch press tests of its C5 Aircross SUV to establish its reputation, even though the name of the brand is not easy to pronounce here.

The vehicle will be open for reservation in March and sales will start in April.

This is where the hard part will begin.

Citroën will try to carve out a place for itself in a puzzle-like market where Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai capture two-thirds of sales.

A dozen brands share the crumbs.

Renault, which ambitioned when it arrived in 2011 to conquer 5% market share by 2017, must be content with 3%.

Ford, Toyota, Volkswagen haven't done much better.

Chevrolet and Fiat left the country in 2017 and 2019 respectively.
