(ANSA) - SAN PAOLO, MARCH 13 - The former Brazilian president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva was vaccinated today against Covid-19 in San Bernardo di Campo, on the outskirts of San Paolo.

Lula, 75, waited for the call of the municipality and got vaccinated in a drive-through in the center of the town, which is part of the Grande San Paolo.

"The people want to be vaccinated to get rid of this monster called coronavirus. Everyone do it," said Lula, who was infected last December during a trip to Cubas at the invitation of American director Oliver Stone, who is shooting a documentary on the island.

Lula criticized President Jair Bolsonaro's denial policy at a press conference on Wednesday following the cancellation of his sentences imposed on him as part of the Lava Jato investigation, the Brazilian Mani Pulite.

"Get everyone vaccinated, do not follow the stupid advice of Bolsonaro or the Minister of Health. Only the vaccine can free us from Covid," Lula said on that occasion.
