Vaccination in nursing homes should allow their residents to leave them.
The Council of State suspended, Wednesday, "the general and absolute ban on the exit of residents" from retirement homes.
Recommended by the Ministry of Health to these establishments, "this total ban is disproportionate", judges the institution.
"According to the scientific data available, the vaccines in use are particularly effective in reducing the risk of being contaminated and of developing a serious form in the event of contamination", justifies the Council of State, which had been seized in summary by the children of a nursing home resident.

The Council of State considers that it is therefore up to those in charge of nursing homes to authorize or not the outings of their residents, "depending, in particular, on the local situation of the epidemic and the characteristics of their establishment, in particular the vaccination rate ”.
"The summary judge considers that certain outings, in particular those of residents who have been vaccinated, may be compatible with the safety of all residents and staff as soon as adequate protection measures are defined", adds the Council of State in its press release.
At the beginning of March, “more than 80% of residents of nursing homes and long-term care units and 43% of caregivers had received at least one dose of vaccine, and more than 50% of residents and 23% of caregivers, both doses required to be regarded as vaccinated ”, explains the Council of State.
