Sweida and Quneitra-Sana
To date, the cultivated areas of the wheat crop in Sweida amounted to more than 33 thousand hectares, including the various regions of the governorate.
The Assistant Director of Agriculture in Sweida, Eng. Alaa Shuhayeb, said in a statement to SANA's correspondent that the cultivated areas so far are good and are distributed as 32,167 hectares for rain and 928 hectares for irrigated, indicating that the agriculture operations are going well with the availability of their requirements.
Engineer Shehayeb added that there is a demand for wheat cultivation during the current season, as the cultivated areas during the same period last year were 14,242 hectares.
The plan to cultivate the wheat crop in Sweida for the current season for Baal, after adding to it, 41,256 hectares, and for irrigated 411 hectares.
In Quneitra, the rate of implementation of the wheat cultivation plan for this season was 79 percent of the planned area of 9,910 hectares, and the percentage of barley cultivation reached 83 percent of the planned area of 4,089 hectares.
The Director of Quneitra Agriculture, Ahmed Deeb, said in a statement to SANA's correspondent that the recent rains herald a good season for winter crops, pointing out that the Agriculture Directorate is following up, through the technicians in the extension units, the operations of planting crops, implementing the agricultural plan, and providing the necessary services to farmers.
