Although the corona numbers are falling in the USA, experts warn of openings.

Texas and Mississippi, however, ignore warnings - and open completely.

Munich - According to the Johns Hopkins University in the USA, 516,616 people died of Corona - more than in any other country.

This makes news from Texas all the more shocking to some observers: The state, which 29 million people call home, is lifting all measures.

Also the mask requirement.

While there is still lockdown in Germany, Texas is now completely open!

Corona in the USA: "Now is the time to open Texas 100 percent"

"Now is the time to open Texas 100 percent," said Republican Governor Greg Abbott.

As of Wednesday, there will also no longer be any capacity limits for restaurants and companies.

“It has to come to an end,” said Abbot.

The time of restrictions is now over - in view of the ongoing vaccination campaign.

5.7 million doses of the vaccine have already been administered, according to the governor.

From 200,000 new infections per day, the numbers in the US have shrunk to around 60,000 per day.

Abbot referred to an unreported number in his decision: He suspects that ten million people were already infected, instead of the confirmed 2.5 million.

The Texans are called upon to continue to adhere to the medical advice, but government regulations no longer need it, Abbot said.

If, contrary to expectations, the case were to occur that the hospitals were too busy, new restrictions would be possible.

But even then, no penalties should be imposed for violations.

Corona in the USA: Mississippi also ends corona measures

In the Republican-run state of Mississippi, there are no longer any restrictions - neither mask requirements nor maximum restaurant capacities.

"It's time," wrote Governor Tate Reeves on Twitter.

It was only on Monday that the head of the US health authority CDC warned against lifting corona requirements.

Ashish Jha, a renowned corona expert from Brown University, also commented on Twitter that Abbot was “taking a great risk to people's lives”.
