Germany's political future will be decided on January 15 and 16 when the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), Angela Merkel's party, chooses a new president at its national congress.
Because the winner will have a good chance to move to the Chancellery next fall.
Covid obliges, the meeting will be held according to a new formula: the “Digitalparteitag” (digital congress).
In a room of the Berlin fair, will be only the party leadership and the three candidates running to succeed Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer, known as "AKK".
She took over from Angela Merkel in December 2018 before announcing last February that she wanted to leave the head of the CDU and gave up leading the party to the elections on September 26.
