The Excellence and Creativity Authority today honored the winners of the first 15 places in the Syrian Scientific Olympiad competitions for the 2020-2021 season, who will join the national teams for the Olympiad in the specializations of “Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Informatics” at the Dar Al-Assad Theater for Culture and Arts in Damascus Opera.

The student, Sariya Muhammad Zahir Ramadan, from Damascus, won first place in mathematics, while student Mudhar Amir Qadar from Lattakia ranked second, and student Rayan Muhammad Deeb Sheikh Al-Basatneh from Aleppo ranked third, and in physics, student Mahmoud Muhammad Zahir Ayroud from Aleppo won first place, and student Ahmed Sami Baraa Askif from Aleppo ranked second and student Seif al-Din Muhammad Khair Khadra from Damascus third place. As for chemistry, student Salamah Abdel Nasser Omran from Homs won first place, and student Batoul Hussam Shriqi from Lattakia ranked second, and student Sidra Faiz Mahfoud from Tartous ranked third.

In the subject of biology, student Abdullah Bassam Jada 'from Homs ranked first, student Lawand Muhammad Bayram from Aleppo second place, and student Bailasan Yahya Daghle from Homs ranked third.

In her speech during the honoring ceremony, Eng. The former Olympiad student Majd Joseph Nasra, who became a coach in the Olympiad, reviewed his experience in this field and his participation in the International Biology Olympiad during 2019 and 2020, where he represented Syria in Hungary and Japan and won two bronze medals during them, pointing out that this experience contributed to changing his life and achieved his ambition and was reflected. The students who won the membership of the 2021 Olympic national teams expressed in meetings with SANA their happiness with the results they achieved, stressing that this bears a great responsibility for them to achieve more successes and achievements at the global level.

Student Mahmoud Ayroud considered that the honor is the fruit of effort and effort over the years of study, and that the Olympiad contributed to supporting his determination and determination, and emphasized that the Olympiad was a useful experience during which he acquired many valuable information and got acquainted with new friends.

Student Sidra Mahfoud said that her participation in the Olympiad developed her correct and logical thinking methods and gained her the necessary experience to deal with situations and life matters. She thanked her teachers and her family, while student Batoul Shriqi expressed her happiness because her efforts were not in vain and culminated in success and she was able to fulfill her dream of joining the national teams for the Olympics.

The student Yazan Al-Attar noted the qualitative training he received during his preparation for the exams, which led to his reaching this result, while the student Muhammad Abdul Aziz Omar Jaana from Aleppo governorate, specializing in biology, indicated that his participation in the Olympiad motivated him to persevere and search for information from scientific references in various languages.

The student Haider Rasooq from Lattakia, specializing in chemistry, said that diligence is always the fruit of success and excellence, and with will and persistence, nothing is impossible.

The honoring ceremony included the screening of films about the scientific Olympiad final qualifiers and the atmosphere that prevailed in them, in addition to expressive artistic dancers about the message of science throughout history and its development and the countries that hosted the World Olympiad competitions.

The final qualifying tests for the Syrian Scientific Olympiad for the 2020-2021 season, which were held by the Excellence and Creativity Authority, were concluded yesterday over two rounds within two days, with the participation of 367 students from different governorates, in order to select members of the national teams that will participate in the international and global Olympiad competitions during the coming period.
