Jean-Pierre Pernaut's latest news: a rock star farewell

2020-12-18T05:04:47.957Z

TF1 rolls out the red carpet with two hours on the air this Friday for the farewell of its star journalist who closes the JT page, after 33

Will Jean-Pierre Pernaut find words as memorable as the “Adieu Vat” launched by the Breton PPDA on the evening of his departure from TF1?

Will he even be able to pronounce them, he who dreads so much to be overwhelmed by emotion when closing for the very last time his 1pm diary?

These are the questions that will be asked by the many viewers who will watch this Friday the very last JT of Jean-Pierre Pernaut, after 33 years of service at midday.

For this great moment of assured television, which will inevitably panic the curves of Médiamétrie, TF1 does not skimp on the honors.

The channel broke its antenna for two hours of red carpet in tribute to its boss and one of its oldest employees with 45 years of home.

What had been organized neither for Claire Chazal, nor for Patrick Poivre d'Arvor.

It will all start at 1 p.m. sharp, of course, with a special edition of the journal that will exceptionally last an hour.

But no question of skipping the news.

"We will begin with an overview of the information of the day for about fifteen minutes", says one in the entourage of "JPP".

This will be the only time when Jean-Pierre Pernaut will have control of the situation.

"After that he will not really control anything," laughs a relative.

The editorial staff has planned nearly 45 minutes of surprises, which it absolutely refuses to detail.

Gilles Bouleau, Anne-Claire Coudray and Jacques Legros in the secret

The only certainty is that the front page star will host her replacement Marie-Sophie Lacarrau on the set.

"He is keen to present it officially to viewers, and to pass the baton to it publicly", we are told.

But the journalist will not be alone on the set: Gilles Bouleau and Anne-Claire Coudray will also be there, as will Jacques Legros, her joker since 1998.

For their mid-day colleague, they will present reports, produced all over France by correspondents from the 19 offices in the regions and overseas, set up by Jean-Pierre Pernaut in 1987. They all prepare for weeks a live intervention as a tribute to their "Jean-Pierre".

Unsurprisingly, a team of reporters will intervene live from Quevauvillers (Somme), his native village, where several residents have planned to come together to watch the country's latest newspaper together.

We do not know, however, whether they prepared a report in the Bay of Somme, one of the most visited places by TF1 since 1987.

Brigitte Macron had to give up

The accomplice Évelyne Dhéliat will also be there, with a specific weather report.

A few artists close to the presenter sent a video testimonial for their friend.

TF1 also asked Brigitte Macron, also born in Amiens.

The First Lady had agreed to record a message to greet the presenter.

But she had to give up this Thursday, when her husband Emmanuel Macron tested positive for Covid-19.

Jean-Pierre Pernaut will return the air at 2 p.m.

But no question for TF1 to move on.

The front page will broadcast in the wake of a 55-minute documentary entitled "A History of French Television", directed by Michel Izard, who has worked with him for 30 years.

The reporter followed his friend for a day to follow the making of his newscast, from leaving his home in the early morning until he left his office.

He also asks Pernaut to comment on the great moments of his career: from his first reports on small villages "where the population continues to decrease", to the special editions he presented after the terrorist attacks of 2015 ...

During this time, a quick drink will be taken near the plateau with his team and the channel management.

“But we really won't be many, because we have to respect barrier gestures.

A bigger party will be organized in the spring, he is not going to retire anyway.

He is going to work at LCI, we will continue to meet him every day in the corridors, ”adds the journalist's entourage.
