An American publisher asked Luis Harss (Chilean-Argentine, for many years also an American, 84 years old) to talk with young Latin American writers, to whom he added some, such as Cortázar, Rulfo, Borges or Onetti, already known .

Among those he discovered for America, and then for the world, were Gabriel García Márquez, Mario Vargas Llosa, Carlos Fuentes and others who made up that audacious advance party.
