Damascus University and the Syrian Scientific Society for Informatics signed today a Memorandum of Understanding to support and develop educational and academic processes in the technical sector within the local environment and to provide universities with teaching and learning tools commensurate with the growing need, support university students with outstanding skills, ideas and abilities, and build human capabilities within educational institutions in addition to forming a reference for what Related to that and work to organize and invest in the optimal manner.

According to the memorandum, Damascus University benefits from the infrastructure available at the association to develop its business and the services it provides by using information and communication technologies, especially network connectivity, hosting services and applications, and to contribute to establishing or providing specialized laboratories necessary in this field.

According to the memorandum, the two sides will cooperate in the field of distance education systems and content management in a way that contributes to enhancing the role of information technology in education and supports the production of educational content, especially Arabic digital content in general, in addition to capacity building in order to allow the development of advanced training programs to build the capacities of workers, students and professors of Damascus University in The fields of information and communication technology.

The two sides also cooperate in developing curricula for information and communication technology and organizing events that support projects, student initiatives and pioneering ideas in the field of information and communication technologies, launching, managing and hosting scientific journals and conferences in the field of information and communication technologies.

The duration of the memorandum is five years, and its implementation is subject to the laws and regulations in force in Syria, including the laws that regulate the work of both sides.

In a statement to SANA following the signing of the memorandum, Dr. Muhammad Yasar Abdin, President of Damascus University, affirmed that cooperation with the association is permanent and continuous and is currently expanded according to the memorandum to include the topic of technologies in general within the university, indicating that work is currently underway to develop the university’s website as it is one of the most important items for university classification Where the association will contribute to this topic in a way that leads to its development, as well as the sites of the colleges of the university as a whole.

Dr. Salah Al-Dowah Ji, head of the Syrian Scientific Society for Informatics, pointed out that the association and the university are essential partners in the education and qualification process of cadres in Syria, indicating that the association has an appropriate infrastructure that can provide support to the university in the field of distance education in addition to other services such as hosting websites and other aspects. Related to information security, pointing out that the memorandum is a general framework agreement that will sort a set of draft agreements during the coming period in accordance with the laws and regulations on both sides.
