Los Angeles health authorities announced that the number of coronavirus infections has risen to more than a million, to become the first US county to reach this number, followed by Cook and Maricopa counties, which recorded the second and third highest number of infections in the country.
CNN quoted the health authorities as saying that according to the latest data, about 14,669 new injuries were recorded, bringing the total number in the province to one million, three thousand and 923, and 253 deaths were recorded, bringing the total to 13,741 cases.
Meanwhile, the Public Health Department announced the registration of the first confirmed case of the new mutated strain of Corona, which was discovered in Britain in a man in Los Angeles.
And Barbara Ferrer, the Director of Health, considered that the emergence of the new strain of the virus in Los Angeles is a matter of concern, as the health care system is suffering as hospitals are filled with Covid 19 patients.
According to the Census Bureau, Los Angeles is the most populous county in the country, with a population of about 10.1 million, followed by Cook, which has a population of 5.2 million, and Maricopa, with a population of about 4.2 million.
