The “watering can principle” has literally had an effect here: in the Kreuth industrial park on Zamenhofweg, neighbors put out a fire themselves by taking courageous action.

There was a lot of smoke on Tuesday evening at a painting company in the Kreuther industrial park on Zamenhofweg.

Neighbors had noticed both the pungent smell and the smoke.

Fire in Weissach: neighbors extinguish with watering cans

At around 8.30 p.m., they not only made an emergency call, but also took action themselves.

Equipped with watering cans, they formed a kind of "rescue chain" and put out the fire themselves outside of the company, as the Kreuther fire brigade commander Thomas Wolf reports.

Alarm in the industrial park: 70 fire fighters had to move out

Thomas Wolf, together with his Kreuther troop and the Rottach-Egern fire brigade, with a total of 70 men and eleven vehicles, came because a fire in the industrial area was reported via the control center.

"When we arrived, everything was already deleted and thus done," reports Wolf, who expressly praises the courageous intervention of the neighbors.

As for the cause of the fire, Wolf assumes that work residues that were collected outside of the company during the day ignited.

There was no great damage.

The fire brigades still had a lot of work afterwards, which, according to Wolf, was necessary due to the current hygiene regulations and the disinfection effort.
