This is not the first time in the current election campaign that politicians are acting in violation of election and propaganda laws.

Last week it was reported that Blue and White Chairman and Defense Minister Bnei Gantz held political talks with activists from his office in the Ministry of Defense, using the ministry's equipment and devices, in violation of the Electoral Law prohibiting the use of government assets for election propaganda. In

blue and white, there have been at least three zoom calls with hundreds of activists in the past month, under the slogan "With you in the living room", with the participation of alternate ministers among the party ministers. In talks held on Friday afternoon, Ganz appeared from his office Under the name "Mashhabat" - which belongs to the Ministry of Defense

The Election Law (Propaganda Methods) prohibits the use in connection with election propaganda of funds or tangible or intangible assets of government ministries and other government bodies.

The ban is intended to separate public funds, which fund government ministers, and party funding funds that fund election campaigns, as well as to keep public service clean from politicization.

In addition, the use of government resources for election propaganda purposes violates the principle of equality applicable to candidates in elections, as not all parties enjoy access to them.

At the same time, before all elections and also in the run-up to the elections to the 24th Knesset, clear instructions from the Attorney General are circulated to all government ministers, prohibiting party activity in ministerial offices.

Thus, the ombudsman allows political activity out of bureaucracies and deputy ministers, only when it comes to limited and limited activity.
