6.45 p.m.:

The next two jumpers lag behind Geiger.

There are only three competitors left.

Is it enough for a medal?

Karl Geiger: Geiger

does it much better.

Despite a lot of wind, he fights his jump down to 132 meters and takes the lead!

Pius Paschke:

The German screwed up the jump completely.

115.5 meters, for Paschke it goes far back.

6:36 p.m.:

Anze Lanisek from Slovenia really knocks you out!

It's not Markus Eisenbichler's day.

The defending champion puts everything into his second jump.

He lands at a strong 134 meters, but wobbles and falls!

Fortunately, he survived the fall unscathed.

6:24 p.m.:

Strong thing!

The Austrian Jan Hörl manages the longest jump of the day to date with 136.5 meters.

Severin Freund:

The ex-world champion cannot confirm the solid jump from round one.

Only 118.5 meters for Freund - with that he will lose a few places, but remains just ahead of Hamann.

Martin Hamann: A

good upswing for the German, Hamann uses that.

123 meters is something to be proud of.

The second round continues.

Can Karl Geiger and Pius Paschke still jump for the medals?

5:54 p.m.:

The first of two rounds is over.

The Austrian Stefan Kraft is clearly on the gold course.

With 5.7 points he has a comfortable cushion on the second-placed Norwegian Robert Johansson (132.1 points).

Third is Kraft's compatriot Daniel Huber (131.7).

With Karl Geiger (6th / 127.7) and Pius Paschke (7th / 125.6), two Germans also have a chance for a medal.

Markus Eisenbichler (16th), Severin Freund (20th) and Martin Hamann (25th) also made it into the second round of the 30 best jumpers, but have nothing to do with the top places.

Markus Eisenbichler:

The world champion decides the first round - and can actually bury the hope of defending the title.

Only 122.5 meters (118.5 points) and 16th place for Eisenbichler.

Karl Geiger:

What a shame!

Geiger puts the telemark in the snow at 132 meters.

That means 127.7 points for the German hope for a medal.

Geiger is now fourth right in front of Paschke.

At around ten points, however, the gap to the leader is enormous.

Pius Paschke:

Despite the good conditions, the third German jumper doesn't quite reach Kraft's distance.

After all, he gets 125.6 points for his flight at 129.5 meters.

Intermediate rank three.

17:34:

Stefan Kraft from Austria is currently leading (137.8 points), who conjured a strong 132.5 meters in the snow.

Martin Hamann:

And already the next DSV eagle.

Hamann is a bit late for his jump and lands at 121.5 meters (109.4 points).

This places him a few places behind Freund.

Severin Freund:

Now it is the turn of the first German.

In 2015 Freund von der Großschanze became world champion, what's in it for him today?

The veteran caught the jump properly and came to a distance of 122.5 meters.

For this he gets 114.7 points from the judges - third place for the moment.

Nordic World Ski Championships: Ski jumping in the live ticker - intermediate result after the 1st round

5.16 p.m.:

The Este Artti Aigro sails at 131 meters.

A surprisingly strong width for the outsider.

The jury therefore reacts immediately and shortens the start-up.

5:07 p.m.:

The heavy snowfall causes the first jumpers a lot of problems - especially with the approach speed.

The snow-covered track is currently slowing down the participants significantly.

This is also noticeable in the previous widths.

5:01 p.m.:

The jumping has started.

The Kazakh Sergey Tkachenko was the first to venture out of the hill in fog and snowfall.

Mostly unknown names represented among the first 20 jumpers.

But in a few minutes the first favorites will intervene in the competition.

Nordic World Ski Championships: Ski jumping in the live ticker - Eisenbichler wants to defend the world championship title

Update from March 5th, 4:52 p.m.:

In Oberstdorf the weather conditions are currently difficult.

On Friday, after the previously mild temperatures at the World Cup, it suddenly turned cold and wintry again.

We are curious to see whether there will be relatively fair conditions for the big favorites despite heavy snowfall.

The Germans among the total of 50 jumpers start in the first round in the following order: Severin Freund as 28th, Martin Hamann as 31st, Pius Paschke as 39th, Karl Geiger as 42nd and defending champion Markus Eisenbichler as 50th and last jumper.

Update from March 5, 4:16 p.m.:

In less than an hour, the ski jumpers are on the large hill in Oberstdorf!

Then Karl Geiger and Co. fight for the medals.

Can world champion Markus Eisenbichler repeat his gold triumph of 2019?

Let's keep our fingers crossed for the German eagles.

Nordic World Ski Championships: ski jumping in the live ticker - ex-world champion back, national coach abdicates

Oberstdorf - Final spurt at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oberstdorf *!

There are still a few decisions to be made on the final weekend, and the German ski jumpers are still hoping for a medal.

What is still in there for the DSV-Adler on Friday and Saturday?

On Friday, starting at 5 p.m., the men's individual competition will start, 24 hours later the team will again be on the podium at the home World Cup.

First of all, let's take a look at Friday, which Severin Freund * will certainly be particularly looking forward to.

Nordic World Ski Championships: Ski jumping in Oberstdorf in the live ticker - Severin Freund back

The former ski jumping world champion (2015 in Falun in the singles and in the mixed team) is allowed to make his debut in Oberstdorf in the second singles.

After he was not considered for the normal hill individual and the mixed team last week, national coach Stefan Horngacher nominated him for the Friday jumping competition.

In addition to Freund, defending champions Markus Eisenbichler *, Karl Geiger *, Pius Paschke * and Martin Hamann are there.

Constantin Schmid failed due to internal qualifications.

The German team has a fifth place on the grid thanks to the Eisenbichler 2019 title in Seefeld.

The qualification on the Schattenberg already takes place on Thursday (5.30 p.m.).

Nordic World Ski Championships: Ski jumping in Oberstdorf in the live ticker - women's national coach Bauer stops

In the meantime, there are also personnel changes at the coach level: Andreas Bauer has a “private project” instead of the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2022.

The national ski jumping coach for women stops at the end of the season.

The 57-year-old announced this in a media round on Thursday morning.

“For a long time I have come to the decision that the home World Cup in Oberstdorf would be the highlight for me again.

That I am happy to continue until then.

At the end of the season I will resign, ”said Bauer one day after the end of the women's World Cup in Oberstdorf.

Bauer has accompanied the jumpers since the first World Cup hour in 2011/2012 and has been responsible for many victories, world championship titles and two Olympic medals in recent years (gold from Carina Vogt in 2014, silver from Katharina Althaus in 2018).

The decision was difficult for him, reported Bauer, for whom the time-consuming trainer job would no longer be compatible with the private project, which was not explained in more detail.

At the announcement of the farewell in the circle of the jump team around top athlete Althaus, "tears also flowed" late on Wednesday evening, said the coach.

Team manager Horst Hüttel left the switch open for those who follow Bauer for the upcoming Olympic season.

“It will be a difficult task for me and Karin Orgeldinger to place someone here.

We have the Olympics in front of our chests for the coming year, ”said Hüttel.

Bauer not only shaped the association, but also the athletes.

"It definitely leaves a gap," emphasized Hüttel.
