US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi confirmed that the United States must reassess its relations with Saudi Arabia, after an intelligence report confirming the approval of the Crown Prince of the Saudi regime, Mohammed bin Salman, for the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
"Democrats in the House of Representatives will introduce legislation that honors Khashoggi's career with sanctions targeting those who commit grave violations against journalists," Reuters quoted Pelosi as saying, adding that "Saudi Arabia needs to know that the world is watching its disturbing actions and that we will hold it accountable."
The administration of US President Joe Biden issued a declassified copy of the CIA report on Khashoggi's murder, which stated: “We believe that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman approved in 2018 an operation in Istanbul to arrest or kill journalist Jamal Khashoggi.”
