There are 95 playgrounds in the Erding city area.

The city council has now reissued its own playground concept for these - and identified a considerable need for action.

In 2009 - Erding was growing rapidly at the time - the city council decided to create the playground concept on the initiative of the CSU town hall faction.

The order went to the Lex-Kerfers office, which not only presented the inventory in July 2010, but also showed development prospects - new play equipment, for example.

Ten years later, in September 2019, the city politicians commissioned the update.

Bernadette Karlstätter presented the results to the development committee.

55 playgrounds and 15 football fields

There are currently 55 playgrounds and 15 football fields in Erding, five areas each for sporting activities and for future development.

In addition, there are 15 more playgrounds and football fields, which are to be created in the course of the implementation of development plans.

These include large playgrounds such as the two in the city park, but also small niche playgrounds, for example in residential complexes.

According to Karlstätter, the 95 data sheets “also contain green maintenance instructions for the building yard so that the playground equipment can be used without restriction”.

However, the concept also shows where there is a need for action.

This is classified as high in eleven facilities, including in Langengeisling, on Aribostraße, on Stadtweg, on Taufkirchener Straße, Wendelsteinstraße, at the sports facility in Altenerding and at the skater facility on Waldstraße in Bergham.

24 playgrounds could be improved

Lex-Kerfers recommends medium-term improvements in 24 cases, including Am Weiher in Langengeisling, Glockengießerstraße, Haydnplatz and Lodererplatz, Reichenberger and Siglfinger Straße, Mohnwiese, Georgenstraße, Itzlinger and at the Herzoggraben and at the old swimming pool.

All others are considered to be in good shape.

Mayor Max Gotz (CSU) reported that families often reported the need and desire for improvements, which he welcomed.

In this context, he criticized many a property developer who was obliged to build playgrounds in new development areas by means of a development plan, “but always implemented this very negligently”.

The result is often not very attractive playgrounds.

But Gotz also emphasized: "We are not responsible for that."

Mayor Max Gotz regrets noise complaints from neighbors

He also regretted that there were always neighbors who would take action against the noise of children, not infrequently families who used to have small children themselves.

"It takes courage to stand up to these people," said the mayor.

He praised the building yard employees as "super reliable" with regard to the play areas.

The CSU parliamentary group leader Burkhard Köppen, himself a multiple grandpa, agreed.

“The playgrounds are in very good shape.

The sand is regularly replaced and replenished. ”Hans Egger (Erding Jetzt) suggested upgrading the currently somewhat enchanted playground on Dunscheberge between Grünem Markt, Sempt and Landshuter Straße.

“It's in the dark.

But that would add enormous value to the city center, especially for families, ”says Egger.

Gotz was open: "We should put him on our list."

A playground guide for families

Gerhard Ippisch (Greens) suggested that the playground concept should not only be viewed as an internal paper, but that all locations and their offers should be made public - for example in the form of a guide.

Gotz also liked this, but pointed out that “we have a real playground tourism from families from outside the city”.

This applies particularly to the two systems in the city park.

Small, cheap, flexible: Erding is getting its first tiny house development.
