The assassination of the father of Iran's nuclear program, Muhsin Fahrizadeh, in Tehran last November was carried out using a ton of weapons smuggled into the country in parts of the Mossad's activities, the British newspaper "Jewish Chronicle" reported today (Wednesday).
According to intelligence sources, a group of more than 20 agents, including those of Israeli and Iranian citizenship,
took part in the assassination operation that took place after eight months of surveillance.
Iranian media reported that Fahrizadeh died at a hospital in the country after armed assassins shot him while he was sitting in his car.
Shortly after the assassination, Tehran pointed the finger of blame at Israel.
Iranian Foreign Minister
Mohammad Javad Zarif tweeted at the time that there was "serious evidence of Israeli involvement."
Israel declined to comment on the assassination.
A government spokesman said following tonight's report that "we never respond to such issues. There has been no change in our position."
