(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, FEBRUARY 27 - Russia "is disconnecting from the EU" and Putin "is using all means, including a lot of misinformation, to ensure survival and fight the opposition".

This is what the EU High Representative Josep Borrell underlines on Twitter, relaunching his video intervention in which he takes stock of bilateral relations after the experience he had in his recent visit to Moscow.

"The liberal and democratic values" of Europe, continues Borrell, "are considered" by the Moscow government "to be a threat to its existence".

The High Representative expresses the hope that the list of Russian officials who will be affected by European sanctions, as decided by the foreign ministers of the 27, can become operational next week. Furthermore, for Borrell, stronger action is needed by the EU against the disinformation and cyberattacks from Russia.

But despite all this, with Moscow, concludes the Other Representative, it will be necessary to find a 'modus vivendi' to address the issues where his involvement is inviting: from Iranian nuclear power, to the climate, to energy supplies.

"I think EU leaders will talk about it at the summit at the end of March".
