Senegal has caught its breath, a weekend of calm after three days of riots.
Thursday and Friday the country, and Dakar in particular, had ignited in a series of violence between demonstrators and the police which left four dead, a rare record in a stable state and accustomed to resolving crises gently .
The appeasement is perhaps only a respite while the tension remains high.
A new collective, the Movement for the Defense of Democracy (M2D), has also called to take to the streets on Monday and for three days.
"A huge protest has swept across the entire Senegalese territory, publicly disavowing Macky Sall and his government who have become condescending to the people"
, affirms Ndèye Fatou Diop Blondin, representative of the M2D, which includes several organizations and parties, in particular the Pastef (Patriots of Senegal for work, ethics and fraternity), the formation of Ousmane Sonko.
