In Penzberg there will also be traffic obstructions this year because canals and water pipes are being renewed or renovated, especially in Steigenberg.

Work will now continue there.

In total, the Penzberger Stadtwerke are investing almost 12 million euros in water supply and wastewater disposal in the city this year.

Penzberg - A large part of the Fischhaberstraße in Steigenberg is as good as finished.

Up to the ESV-Platz, the canal and some of the water pipes had been renewed in 2020.

In this area, remaining work is still necessary before the road receives its asphalt surface layer, says Florian Stauder, technical director at the municipal utilities.

The work in Steigenberg does not end there.

List of municipal utilities: Sewer construction sites in Steigenberg in 2021

Stauder now presented a list of the streets in Steigenberg that will be digged this year.

This March it continues on Fischhaberstraße from ESV-Platz.

The municipal utilities want to renew the canal up to the junction with the Böhmerwaldstraße by May.

From July to November the section should then follow until shortly before the Wankstrasse.

According to Stauder, the starting shot will also be given in March on Schöneberger Strasse and Knappenstrasse.

The work there should last until June.

Further canal construction measures are planned from May to August on Böhmerwaldstrasse and in the eastern part of Paul-Loebe-Strasse.

From July to November the workers then take the “Am Kreuzacker” street.

The last stage of this year, probably from October to December, is planned to be carried out on Langoner Strasse, in the western section of Paul-Loebe-Strasse and on the “Am Ferchenholz” street.

In some cases, water pipes are also being renewed and fiber optic cables are being laid.

In Penzberg, the 100-kilometer sewer network is being renewed step by step

The sewer works are necessary, according to Stauder, “in order to be sufficiently efficient for the drainage conditions to be expected in the future”.

As reported, the municipal utilities are upgrading the 100-kilometer sewer network in Penzberg step by step on the basis of their general drainage plan.

The main reason is the increasing rainfall as a result of climate change.

The Steigenberg district is currently the focus of sewer renewal.

According to Stauder, the construction times would only extend over a few weeks thanks to optimized planning and execution - a very short period of time "compared to the decades of use of the modern, high-performance infrastructure".

According to the Stadtwerke, the individual dates can be postponed, however, as the work is influenced by many factors and is highly dependent on the weather.

Property driveways should remain as free as possible

The municipal utilities announced that diversions will be signposted.

The entrances to the properties could in principle be maintained, but in the course of construction it could be that they have to be “temporarily restricted to individual properties”.

There will be “specific regulations” for such situations.

According to the municipal utilities, access to the properties should always be possible.

Residents would have to provide garbage cans and garbage bags at the ends of the cordoned off areas for collection when their street section is closed.

The municipal utilities recommend labeling the garbage cans to avoid confusion.

According to the economic plan, the Penzberger Stadtwerke are investing a total of almost ten million euros in wastewater disposal and around two million euros in water supply this year.

In addition to the measures in Steigenberg, the sewer and water pipe on Kirnberger Straße are once again on the plan - the measure had been postponed in recent years.

The economic plan also includes construction measures in Reindl and on Wölflstrasse.

This also applies to the tunnel that drains the Grube industrial park and is to be replaced by a rainwater sewer.
