Syrian-Iranian forum to facilitate scientific, economic and technological cooperation

A trade and technology forum brought together managers and representatives of about forty Iranian companies in various technical, medical, engineering and industrial specialties with heads and representatives of a number of scientific and research institutions and Syrian economic actors to discuss the prospects for scientific and economic cooperation between the two countries.

During the forum organized by the Iranian Center for Advanced Technology, "The House of Iranian Creativity and Technology" at the Sheraton Damascus Hotel, a film was shown about Iranian technologies in the medical, engineering and industrial fields and the developments that followed them.

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Bassam Ibrahim said in his speech: Syria is always looking forward to developing its relations with Iran and concluding more agreements on the scientific level and trade, economic and industrial exchange with it, noting the scientific progress that Iran has made in the field of producing "nanotechnologies" as it ranked The first in the region and the fourth in the world.

The Iranian President's Associate for Scientific and Technical Affairs, Dr. Surna Stari, talked about Iran's scientific experiences in recent years and the role of specialized human resources in transferring its economy to a modern and developed economy capable of facing the unjust Western blockade, adding: “We do not have any limits in exchanging technologies and the economic and commercial sphere between Syria. Iran is open, and tomorrow we will open the Iranian Center for Innovation and Technology in Syria, ”stressing the importance of the two countries’ governments setting up communication bridges so that professors, university students, industrialists and merchants can achieve these goals.

For his part, the Iranian ambassador to Damascus, Javad Turkabadi, expressed his hope that the current visit of the Iranian delegation would be a good step in the framework of bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the technological field, which would contribute to scientific, economic and commercial development that would positively reflect on the interests of the two peoples.

Assistant Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Rania Ahmed indicated in a statement to SANA's delegate that the forum brings added value to economic relations, especially in the field of knowledge-based economy and the localization of technology in Syria.

In a similar statement, the director of the Iranian Center for Advanced Technology, Engineer Hadi Daghmi, explained the importance of introducing Syrian institutions and companies to Iranian knowledge-based companies, especially in the field of “nanotechnology,” considering that there is similarity between the Iranian and Syrian cultures, but there is a weakness in knowledge exchange, so he hopes that this step will be a way. To increase information in the technological field and to introduce Iranian products to the Syrian market in terms of quality, quality and specifications.

The official of the Iranian-Syrian Economic Coordination Office, Muhammad Ali Noorani, said: “The forum is tasked with introducing traders and actors in the field of science and technology to the latest issues.” While Azadeh Ahmad Zaree, director of the Iranian “Lamberdor” company for medical supplies, said that the forum helps to strengthen commercial and technical relations between the two countries.

For his part, Dr. Hajatullah Zabaihi, director of the Iranian pharmaceutical company "Darroderman Salafjakan", which exports to Arab and foreign countries, said, "Syria is a friendly country, and we are ready to transfer our experience to it in the field of pharmaceutical industries, and we hope through the Syrian market to export medicines to other countries."
