Hapoel Jerusalem tonight (Monday) defeated Ein Nahariya 80:87 in Ein Sara after a close and dramatic game.
The opening figures indicated a one-sided game.
Urbani Nahariya last in the table, after 44 points against Maccabi Tel Aviv, came in a missing squad (without the suspended Joe Alexander and the injured Mackenzie Moore), but in practice it was a game that Jerusalem had to sweat to win.
Jerusalem struggled despite expected control under the baskets (15 rebounds on offense) and despite scoring 14 threes.
This is due to the fighting spirit and determination of the home team, excellent play by the three foreigners (62 points together by Young, Blosongiim and Newman) and the contribution of the bench players especially Gal Gilinski.
In the end Nahariya was there until the end, but stayed with the compliments.
Hapoel Jerusalem won its first game since the relegation in the State Cup semifinals.
Bottom line, a good debut for Stanton Kidd (13 points).
Tamir Blatt finished the game with 3 of 11 from the field, but delivered 10 assists and scored two important threes in the closing minutes.
Adam Ariel also contributed with 4 out of 5 for three (14 points).
