A month and a half into the vaccination campaign, in the last week there has been a slowdown in the rate of vaccines.

Every day, about 180,000 vaccines are given, for the first dose and also for the second dose.

This is while Health Minister Yuli Edelstein's target is about 240,000 vaccines daily.

HMO officials say the first reason for the drop in vaccines is the fact that the Ministry of Health has insisted on not removing the priority method and not allowing the entire population to be vaccinated.

Tonight (Tuesday), the Ministry of Health CEO J. HMOs that tomorrow they are expected to make a final decision about removing the prioritization and opening the vaccines for everyone.

According to the HMOs, the insistence on staying in the 35 and older, reduces the response to be vaccinated, despite these ages hold a lot of the labor market, Are closer to children and can spread the disease easily.According to the Ministry of Health, more than three million people have already been vaccinated out of nine million Israeli citizens, including children who cannot be vaccinated.

About 83% over the age of 60 have already been vaccinated.

Among those aged 60 and over, who were the first in priority, we had already vaccinated 83% and there were still about 200,000 people left to vaccinate in this group.

At the age of 50 and over, the percentage of vaccinated people drops to 77% and there are still about 240,000 people left who are eligible for the vaccine.

As the age group decreases, the demand for vaccines decreases, with another 2.423 million people left who need to be vaccinated.

Mali Kusha, head nurse at the United Health Insurance Fund, said there was a feeling that we had reached the ceiling of the vaccinators' capacity limit.

"We started vaccinating people from four decades together, so we felt the responsiveness with all our might. Then we went down slowly in the decades, so we feel the slowdown because the potential amount for vaccination is smaller."

She added that "there are places in the country, such as in the center, where most of the insured included in the priority have already been vaccinated, however there are areas where demand is extremely weak, despite information efforts."

The funds claim that the vaccination centers in some places remain empty of vaccinators.

The decline is felt.

Professor Shlomo Weniker, head of the medical department at Clalit Health Fund, explained to Walla!

NEWS that "those who wanted to get vaccinated have already been vaccinated, including the young. We know we have reached a population that wants to get vaccinated less, the farther away from risk groups there is less motivation."

He added that "we are a consumer company, when there is congestion at the stations it encourages people to come and get vaccinated, when there are empty hotspots people do not come."

Another difficulty that Prof. Vanicker talks about is the limited ability to encourage young people and healthy people to get vaccinated, especially when until now the corona was considered a 'disease of the elderly', from which young people easily get out.

The shuffle in the green passport project, which was supposed to serve as a catalyst for young people, is causing the pace to drop even more.

"Now we need to make an effort and implement the green passport, and also show the difficult situations that young people get into following the morbidity of the British mutation," said Prof Winker.

If that is not enough, the Ministry of Health is also considering removing the "benefit" for vaccinators and recoverers from the abolition of isolation for returnees from abroad. This was an important consideration for young people.

"Pregnant women are a priority, but do not come out of confusion"

Meanwhile, the HMOs are also pointing the finger of blame at the guidelines of the Ministry of Health.

"Pregnant women are completely confused, every day they change the instructions towards them," a senior at the Clalit Health Fund explains to Walla!

NEWS.

"These are the women in the relevant age group and they are a priority, but they do not come out of confusion."

For all of these reasons, Pfizer's vaccine supply problem also joins.

The company announced in advance to all the countries that purchased the vaccine from the company that in early February there will be a slowdown in the rate of vaccines.

In Israel, this is less felt, but here too there is a fear that there will be a shortage.

The Ministry of Health claims that they do not remove the priority because all vaccinators of priority age have yet to be exhausted.

For example, the Maccabi HMO reached 52% of all its insured, Clalit 50%, Meuhedet 49% and Leumit only 46% of all the insured who were vaccinated.
