There is a lot of difficulty, but there are also good things.

In the first wave of the corona I said that if I heard the sentence again: "make lemonade out of lemon", I would already respond with rudeness, which if I may say is not characteristic of me.

And yet, yes, what to do, there are also good things that happen to people and come out of this period.

The fact that parents and children are together for many hours at home allows mobility between the different areas in the home.

Breaking the territories, and starting to blur in areas that belong only to the father or only to the mother.

The experience is that everyone is in and operating in the same space, using the same resources, there is less separation and this has long involved the involvement of all members of the household in the operation of the home and family.

What family will we be in the day after the corona?

To the full article

The children live within the social networks and are exposed to many videos of cooking, baking and recipes of how to make at home what until now could only be found in restaurants.

Parents who 'vacate the chair' may allow one of the children to sit on it.

The closeness and joint activity that we thought should be flown abroad for them, can also happen in the kitchen. Children put dough (Photo: ShutterStock)

I vacated the chair of the "brewery" and it invited all the kids into the kitchen.

Throughout the week there are conversations about food, planning what to prepare, exchanging recipes and ideas.

Children who have so far not stepped into the kitchen and never taken part in cooking, suddenly enter the kitchen.

And a joy of creating and doing together was created around the preparation of meals at home.

Between the family members, a connecting and close experience is created around the joint work.

What we used to think that in order to get there you have to travel abroad or visit various attractions, we discover that you can also experience indoors.

Had it not been for the corona, this would not have happened

Were it not for the corona, and if families had not found themselves closed - the whole family would be at home for hours, one might assume that this might not have happened.

I can at least testify that in my house this would not have happened.

Now they are for days exchanging recipes, planning all the ingredients of a Friday meal, shopping in advance and everyone taking part in the preparations.

Friday afternoon, GLC in the background and everyone is working in the kitchen. I, due diligence, believe in washing dishes and allowing others to win over the preparations.

Online learning and the long hours in front of the screens lead parents to make time for joint activities away from the screen.

The fact that children are now learning online and spending more hours on screens, leads parents to look for different activities options for their children who are off-screens.

Parents make time for board games, go out with the children to the nearby garden and play in the facilities.

In the pre-Corona era, children were entrusted with education and went out for a day of work, weekends and holidays were "family time."

Today they are allowed to be with their children, to meet them through daily and "necessary" chores.

The exit to the public garden next to the house will provide all the necessary activities for the children.

I used to teach movement in kindergartens and more than once I was asked by parents about a recommended class for their children.

To this question I used to answer that going out to the public garden next to their house would provide all the necessary activities for their children.

Fresh air activity, movement in space, gross motor skills and a good experience together, without stress.

And here, the reality of the corona invites parents to do just that - to be with their children in simple activities that allow for the accumulation of good shared experiences and these fill the backpack on its wonderful side of the road.

Parental referrals, the less need to mark the performance of tasks, also allows for more involvement of children in doing homework.

And this is what they will take with them from this period - not the grief that they did not go on vacation in the Black Forest, but the experience that allowed them to discover abilities and interest in everything that exists in the space in which they live - at home.
