Two FBI agents were killed and three others were injured while trying to arrest a suspect in violent crimes against children at a home in Florida, the Federal Bureau of Investigation said.

It was one of the FBI's deadliest encounters in decades.

According to the FBI, a team of law enforcement agents arrived yesterday with a court order in Sunrise, Florida, at 6 p.m., local time.

In a statement from the FBI Agents Association, the arrest warrant sought evidence regarding the possession of child pornography.

Two of the injured agents were evacuated to a hospital in stable condition, while a third was not required to be hospitalized.

The suspect, whose identity is not yet known, also died.

According to the New York Times, he barricaded himself in the apartment and was found lifeless.

It is not known how he died, according to the newspaper, which quoted unknown sources.

In Miami Herald it was reported that he put an end to his life.

Large forces from law enforcement services, including the FBI and various police departments, arrived at the scene in a closed community in Sunrise, near Fort Lauderdale and located 48 miles north of Miami.
