VIDEO. Covid-19: in Los Angeles, young people looking for the remains of vaccine vials

In front of the city's vaccination centers, queues form in the hope of obtaining unadministered doses of vaccine.

In recent days, queues have been created around certain vaccination centers in Los Angeles.

These are people who do not fall into the “at risk” category - young people, for the most part - and who therefore cannot be vaccinated by appointment.

They hope to benefit from the doses that are ready but not administered, due to patients who did not show up.

At the end of the day, these doses should be used, because once a vial of Moderna vaccine is opened, its shelf life should not exceed six hours.

At this point, Los Angeles County is only offering vaccinations to medical workers and people over the age of 65.

Appointments are filling up very quickly but a small number of patients do not show up.

Officially, the health authorities do not sanction the administration of the anti-Covid vaccine to people who do not meet the criteria.

California has become for two months one of the main centers of the new coronavirus in the United States.

The Covid-19 has caused the death of more than 37,000 people there.

At the beginning of the week, the state had administered 2.44 million doses of vaccine, for a population of 40 million inhabitants.
