The American video game giant Epic Games, which develops Fortnite in particular, announced on Tuesday the acquisition of Tonic Games Group, the studio's parent company behind the game Fall Guys, one of the commercial successes of 2020.

The transaction amount was not sent.
Via its London studio Mediatonic, Tonic Games Group launched Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout, a multiplayer platform game in the battle-royale format, which has sold over 11 million copies on PC.
The title will remain available for purchase (for $ 19.99 currently) on the Steam download platform as well as on PlayStation.
It should also be adapted for the Nintendo Switch and Xbox this summer.
Epic "determined to create the metaverse"
Before this major acquisition, Epic Games announced in May 2019 the acquisition of studio Psyonix, publisher of the sports game Rocket League.
Based in North Carolina (south-eastern United States), Epic Games develops the Unreal Engine video game engine, used by its global success Fortnite and many other titles.

said in a statement the boss-founder of Epic Games, Tim Sweeney.
