According to the annual study "Labor requirements", made public this Tuesday by Pôle emploi and carried out in collaboration with Crédoc, covering 450,200 establishments, French companies intend to recruit a record number this year. of candidates compared to 2019.
"Companies are in the starting blocks and will be inclined to hire as soon as the health restrictions are lifted, and in historic proportions with nearly 2,723,000 recruitment projects, or 30,000 additional hiring projects if we compare to 2019, the last year when hiring intentions could have been done normally, ”notes Stéphane Ducatez, notes the deputy general manager of the Pôle Emploi network, in charge of studies and performance.

According to calculations by Pôle emploi, 64.3% of these hiring projects are long-term jobs, on CDI or CDD of at least six months. Another indicator in green: the proportion of establishments anticipating hiring. They are 26.5% this year, against 26.4% in 2019 - already a record year in terms of forecasts, with a 14.8% increase in recruitment projects compared to 2018.
Small businesses are picking up faster.
“Two out of three hiring projects come from companies with fewer than 50 employees,” notes Stéphane Ducatez.
As for the very small ones (from 1 to 9 employees), they are optimistic and intend to launch the recruitment process to find the arms that are lacking.
In detail, their projects increase by 12% in 2021, while the drop is 9 to 10 points for companies of intermediate sizes.
For their part, large companies with more than 200 employees are continuing an average increase with also positive indicators (+ 0.9% compared to 2021).
Construction, services and agriculture topped the rankings.
Among the growing sectors, the most spectacular increase concerns the construction and building sector (+ 21.7%). Agriculture (+ 9.5%), where employers will, again and again, be looking for seasonal workers, particularly in arboriculture and picking, is also doing well. provider of jobs. “Six out of ten hiring intentions take place in this sector,” reveals Pôle emploi. Certain healthcare professions (nursing assistants, nurses, etc.) are doing particularly well with 354,000 new hiring projects in 2021 (i.e. 14.8% more than in 2019). Other service activities such as childcare, tutoring, babysitting, home help are also growing (+ 3.1%).“There are nearly 57,000 hiring needs in the home intervention sectors, to support the elderly or those on discharge from hospital. It is a very important issue to come, ”reveals Catherine Poux, director of business services at Pôle emploi.

Ile-de-France and the dynamic South.
With 296,900 hiring intentions in 2021 (i.e. + 15.2% compared to 2019), Nouvelle-Aquitaine is on the highest step of the podium, just ahead of Pays de la Loire (199,500 hiring intentions, + 10.7%). “The Atlantic coast brings together extremely dynamic areas which explain these good figures, while, in other regions such as Pays de la Loire, strong demographic growth coupled with overrepresentation of hiring in personal services leads to dynamism and new hires ”, explains Pôle emploi. As for Ile-de-France, although hiring intentions are down (477,300, -3.1%), they remain well above the rest of the regions thanks to its economic fabric.
Industry and catering are going unscrewed.
But contrary to this dynamism of hiring projects, certain traditionally more dynamic sectors are under high tension. This is the case for industry (-7%), metallurgy (-28.2%), electronic equipment (-30.5%), transport (-28.1%) and business services (-7%). “For a long time, there has been a decline in employment in industry and even if we had started to see a trend in the other direction, the sector was strongly penalized by the health crisis,” underlines Pole emploi.
Less complicated recruitments.
At the same time, entrepreneurs anticipate a drop in recruitment difficulties this year compared to 2019, regardless of the size of their business. But, for some professions, the task is always difficult. At the head of the trades which are struggling to find that rare gem, we find carpenters, roofers, doctors, home helpers and household helpers, but also automobile bodybuilders.
