Hollywood stars said goodbye today (Tuesday) to singer, actress and icon Olivia Newton-John, star of "Grease", who passed away yesterday after a long battle with cancer.



"She is too young to leave the world," Barbra Streisand paid tribute to her, "may she rest in peace."



Singer Frank Vallee, who sang the "Grease" theme song, told PEOPLE that Newton-John was "a great talent, and absolutely one of my favorites."



"She will be missed," Vali added.

"Dame Olivia Newton-John passed away peacefully this morning at her farm in Southern California, surrounded by family and friends. We ask that everyone please respect the family's privacy during this difficult time," Facebook said.

"Olivia has been a symbol of victory and hope for over 30 years, while sharing her journey with breast cancer."

Newton-John won the Grammy award four times and topped the Billboard charts five times, and besides that her albums and hits have been included in the Billboard charts over the years.

With global sales of more than 100 million records, Newton-John is one of the best-selling music artists from the second half of the 20th century to the present day.



In 1978, she played in the musical "Grease", whose soundtrack remains one of the best-selling albums in the world.

It includes two big hit duets with star Travolta: "You're the One That I Want" - which ranks as one of the best-selling singles of all time - and "Summer Nights".

Apart from that, she recorded for the film and the soundtrack the giant ballad "Hopelessly Devoted to You".
