Read here how and when the most expensive German series to date will continue.

"Babylon Berlin" is one of the most successful German series of all time.

No wonder, because the production cost a whopping 38 million euros - only for the first two seasons.

But the co-production between ARD and Sky has paid off.

Now the

4th season of "Babylon Berlin" is in the can

.

Soon, Volker Bruch is back on the hunt for criminals as Inspector Gereon Rath.

The actor caused a sensation in the corona pandemic with the campaign "#allesdichtmachen" and moved closer to a party of lateral thinkers *.

Here you can find out when the fourth season of “Babylon Berlin” starts, what happens next and which actors are on board.

"Babylon Berlin" Season 4: So it goes on

At the end of the third season of “Babylon Berlin”, viewers experienced the New York stock market crash that was to spread across the world. Berlin is sinking into chaos, many people commit suicide, having lost all their savings on the stock exchange. Right in the middle: Inspector

Gereon Rath (played by Volker Bruch) and Charlotte Ritter (Liv Lisa Fries)

.

There is a leap in time in the 4th season of “Babylon Berlin”. The

new season is based on the novel “Goldstein” by Volker Kutscher,

which tells of the “political and social situation in Berlin from the winter of 1930/31 to the Stennes putsch in April of the same year”, as the

Film- und Medienstiftung NRW did

in theirs Press release announced in February. We are thus skipping a good year and a half and are in the midst of the great global economic crisis. The confrontations between the left and right parties are becoming more and more extreme and violent.

Meanwhile,

Gereon Rath has to shadow the Jewish US gangster Abraham Goldstein,

who traveled to Germany from the USA.

What at first looks like a normal and rather boring job quickly turns into a captivating and nerve-tickling affair.

The fourth season of “Babylon Berlin” finally culminates in the Stennes Putsch, an internal party dispute within the National Socialists.

How far the scriptwriters and the three directors stick to the novel is questionable.
