He was one of the pioneers of French cinema in the 1980s and 1990s: now the well-known French film director Jean-Jacques Beineix is dead .
His works "Diva" and "Betty Blue - 37.2 degrees in the morning" made him popular.
First medicine, then short film
Baixix was born on October 8, 1946 in Paris.
The producer and screenwriter originally studied medicine.
It was not until 1964 that he turned to film and began working as an assistant director for Jean Becker.
More than ten years later, in 1977, Beineix made his first short film »Le Chien de Monsieur Michel« (roughly: »The Dog of Monsieur Michel«), with which he received first prize at the Trouville Festival and a nomination for the César for best short film .

His career finally began with »Diva« in 1981.
The film enjoys almost cult worship, especially in France and the USA.
In it, Beineix masterfully wove individual strands into a confusing story and delivered action as an end in itself, wrote SPIEGEL at the time.
»He is a brilliant nothing, photographed in the style of expensive advertising.«
Along with Luc Besson and Jean-Jacques Annaud, Beineix is one of the best-known filmmakers in contemporary French cinema.
