The last sacred monster of world football, 80, said Thursday on social networks that he is "better", two weeks after his fate

"Thank God I'm fine, I'm better, I'm even ready to play on Sunday."

It is with a joke that Pelé, in a video posted on the Instagram accounts of two of his daughters, reassured his fans.

“Seriously, thank you for everything, thank you to everyone who gave me strength.

God willing, I will be with you very soon, ”he added.

In this first video since his release from the Sao Paulo hospital where he spent a month in care, the only footballer to have won three World Cups (1958, 1962, 1970) appears smiling and in a good mood.

Edson Arantes do Nascimento, who will be 81 on October 23, was admitted to hospital on August 31 for routine examinations where a “suspicious” colon tumor was detected.

He was operated on four days later.

The "King" of football then spent ten days in an intensive care unit, where he returned briefly a few days later due to breathing difficulties, before being discharged from hospital on September 30.

The result of the tumor biopsy has never been made public, but doctors have indicated that he will have to undergo "chemotherapy".

The former Seleçao number 10 has worried his fans numerous times due to his fragile health and has been admitted to hospital several times with various health issues.

The Brazilian is one of the last sacred monsters in football, after the deaths of Johan Cruyff, in 2016, and especially Diego Maradona, in November 2020.
