The 50-year-old former American champion, stripped of his seven Tour de France victories for doping, married Anna

It is in France that Lance Armstrong will have made some of the most beautiful memories of his life.

Seven times winner in a row of the Tour de France between 1999 and 2005 before being scratched from the shelves for proven doping ten years ago, the former Texan champion, 50, chose France, and more specifically Provence, to pass the ring on the finger of Anna Hansen, 41, his companion for fifteen years.

Lance Armstrong and Anna Hansen exchanged their consent at the Château de La Coste, a luxurious estate located about twenty kilometers north of Aix-en-Provence, in Puy-Sainte-Réparade (Bouches-du-Rhône).

The couple had done things big since the five-star hotel, planted in the middle of hills and vineyards, has several restaurants, a spa and offers suites at around 2000€ per night…

The former peloton boss, 51 next month, posted photos from the event on social media.

“I married the love of my life, he wrote in the comments.

The evening was filled with laughter and tears of joy.

Anna, you have been my rock for these fourteen years and I would not have survived without you.

I'm so proud of the couple we've become.

I love you so much and will always be there for you and our family."

A yoga teacher, Hansen, ten years younger than her companion, is the mother of two of her five children, Max, 13, and Olivia, 11.

Armstrong has three older children, whom he had with his first wife Kristin Richard, whom he divorced in 2003. Subsequently, he was notably the companion of singer Sheryl Crow, whom he proposed in marriage in 2005 and with whom the engagement was broken in February 2006.

It remains to be hoped that this new union will know a better fate than Armstrong's victories canceled in the Grande Boucle, leaving a gap of seven editions on the list of winners of the greatest cycling race in the world.
