Konrad Laimer spoke on a TV show about the reasons for his failed transfer.

Accordingly, FC Bayern was apparently willing to pay a lot of money.

Leipzig – Konrad Laimer's exchange poker game lasted for weeks this summer.

The Austrian international from RB Leipzig had long been a dream player for Bayern Munich, but the transfer ultimately didn't materialize.

Now the 25-year-old midfield clearer explained the reasons for the failed change of employer.

FC Bayern: Konrad Laimer's commitment was "very close" - but the deal failed

On Monday, Laimer was on the show "Sport & Talk from Hangar-7" on the private Austrian broadcaster Servus-TV, which also belongs to the Red Bull empire.

He spoke openly about his summer, he almost switched to Bayern.

Born in Salzburg, he made no secret of the fact that he wanted to leave RB.

“I would have been ready to make the move in the summer.

It was very close, but the go-ahead from Leipzig didn't come,” regrets Laimer.

The 24-time international responded to the complicated situation that he had experienced in the past few weeks.

"On the one hand, it's nice because I'm an important player.

On the other hand, it's also difficult because you think a lot.

But I've come to terms with it.

It just keeps going," said Laimer in conclusion on the subject.

FC Bayern: 30 million euros is probably too much for Laimer – soon he will be available on a free transfer

Apparently, the sum requested by the Leipzig team was too high for the record champions, which is said to have been around 30 million euros.

RB Leipzig did not meet Bayern during the negotiations, which is why the people of Munich moved away from the personnel for the time being.

Laimer is still tied to Saxony until the end of June 2023, after which Bayern could sign the midfielder for a free transfer.

However, Laimer is currently missing from his team.

After ankle problems at the beginning of the season, he only played five times, recently followed by syndesmosis ligament surgery.

He has had to sit out since mid-September and will probably only be able to make his comeback next year.

“It takes at least eight to ten weeks.

In the first half of the season it will be difficult to get back on the pitch.

That's why it's important that I give myself the time to let everything heal and do a good rehab," says Laimer.

From next year, Bayern will keep an eye on Julian Nagelsmann's ex-player again.
