Moosburg

– The city of Moosburg celebrated its 1250th birthday with a grandiose festival in the city center on Saturday.

Around 10,000 guests came to take a seat at the 1250 meter long banquet table and enjoy a wonderful summer night with live music, a wide range of culinary delicacies and lots of conversations - and to be part of the longest table in Bavaria.

"It exceeds all our expectations," said Mayor Josef Dollinger, looking over the city center from the second floor of the town hall a good hour after the start of the festival.

"Well over 6,000 visitors", he estimated, were already in the city at this point to secure one of the coveted seats at the long beer table that meandered through the entire city center.

Choosing the right place wasn't that easy, because live music rang out from many corners.

In addition, the culinary stands of the Moosburg associations and restaurateurs, who had taken on the catering of the guests, attracted visitors.

569 sets of beer tables were lined up

While the many guests enjoyed the fantastic weather and the cozy atmosphere, the head of the town hall and the building yard manager Martin Holzner were able to catch their breath.

Since 8.30 a.m. Holzner, his Bauhof team and many volunteers have been on their feet to set up the 569 beer table sets in the city center and lovingly decorate them with white tablecloths, red table runners, a rose arrangement and white candles.

In general, the entire city was bathed in red and white and thus in the colors of the City of the Three Roses.

The organizers were very pleased that the majority of the visitors also adhered to the color dress code.

Happy and peaceful celebrations continued in the streets and alleyways until late in the evening – Dollinger estimated the number of visitors at peak times to be around 10,000.

"It's really crazy," said Martin Holzner happily, since all the effort was worth it.

For Holzner, the evening was far from over by midnight: he and his team still had about three hours to dismantle the beer table sets.
